Annual Giving: The Heart of Our Community Support

Annual Giving is the cornerstone of philanthropic support at Austin Waldorf School. Each year, gifts from parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, and friends help ensure that we can provide a high-quality Waldorf education that goes beyond tuition costs. These contributions directly fund classroom experiences, teacher development, arts and music programs, and financial aid—impacting every student, every day.

Like most independent schools, AWS intentionally sets tuition below the actual cost of educating each student, creating what we call a “tuition gap”. The purpose of the Annual Fund is to close this gap. This ensures that every student at AWS continues to benefit from the full richness of a Waldorf education.

There are two key reasons why we structure it this way. First, it allows for a portion of the education cost to be covered through tax-advantaged gifts. Second, and most importantly, it gives our community an opportunity to share the weight of this portion of the cost in a fair and equitable way. This collective effort is what truly makes our community thrive as a whole, ensuring that our enriching Waldorf education remains accessible not just to a few, but to all.
