A Journey Through Music

Music is a cornerstone of the Austin Waldorf School experience, accompanying students from their first day through graduation. Integrated across disciplines, music nurtures cognitive, emotional, and social development while supporting the school’s commitment to holistic education.

Daily and weekly singing, choral work, and instrumental instruction foster listening skills, harmony, coordination, and social cohesion. Ensemble performance builds empathy and resilience, and students benefit from dedicated facilities like the Performing Arts Center and Recital Halls that support deep engagement in their musical journey.

It Starts with Strings

Strings instruction begins in 3rd grade, offering students the opportunity to explore instruments such as the violin, viola and cello.

Then Come the Winds

Wind instruments are introduced in 6th grade, expanding students’ musical experiences and deepening their ensemble work.

And the Music Deepens

As students enter high school, they begin to focus more intensively on either a musical instrument or choral singing, continuing to develop discipline, technical skill, and artistic expression.
