Movement

Building Coordination, Confidence, and Community

Games

Grades 1-5 participate in Games classes. Games classes are a vital part of our curriculum, supporting the development of the whole child—physically, socially, and emotionally. Inspired by AWSNA principles, these classes promote coordination, rhythm, balance, and teamwork through imaginative games in the early grades and more structured activities as students grow.

Games are also woven into academic learning, helping students engage concepts kinesthetically while building confidence, focus, and a strong sense of collaboration.

Gym

Physical education begins in 6th grade, building on the foundation established through the Games program in Grades 1 through 5. Students engage in a variety of team sports, individual exercises, and movement games, continuing to develop strength, coordination, and teamwork skills.

The gym program emphasizes body awareness, personal growth, and collaboration, while fostering resilience, discipline, and a healthy sense of competition. This holistic approach helps students refine their physical abilities and encourages lifelong habits of fitness and well-being.

Eurythmy

Eurythmy is an essential part of our curriculum, offering a unique form of movement that brings together music, rhythm, and speech. Beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through Grade 12, students engage in this expressive art form to enhance their coordination, concentration, and understanding of language and music.

Eurythmy is woven into academic subjects, helping students embody and deepen their learning through movement. This practice nurtures creativity, emotional intelligence, and physical awareness, fostering a harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit. At Austin Waldorf, Eurythmy is more than just movement—it is a pathway to self-expression and personal growth.
