Upper Grades

In Upper Grades 6–8 (Middle School) at Austin Waldorf, students are met with greater academic challenges that align with their growing energy, curiosity, and capacity for critical thinking—and are designed to inspire deeper engagement, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Growing Together: A Unique Educational Journey

The day begins with a warm handshake and greeting at the door, where each student is personally welcomed by their teacher—establishing connection, trust, and presence. This is followed by a moment of quiet reverence as the class gathers to recite the morning verse, a unifying tradition spoken by Waldorf students around the world. What makes our education truly unique is the Class Teacher Model and the Main Lesson Block schedule, allowing for deep, immersive learning and a strong, consistent relationship between teacher and student.

Class Teacher Model

Each Class Teacher remains with their students from Grades 1–8, allowing for a deep, personal understanding of each child’s strengths and challenges. This continuity ensures that teachers can provide the best support as students grow and develop.

Main Lesson Block

The Main Lesson begins each school day and focuses on a specific subject, delivered in a block schedule. This allows for immersive learning through storytelling, vocabulary development, writing exercises, and creative arts, ensuring that all learning styles are engaged.
