A Journey of Growth at Austin Waldorf School

At Austin Waldorf School, we craft an intentional education that meets the developmental needs of each child—intellectually, emotionally, and socially. From early childhood through high school, our curriculum evolves to inspire curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and compassion. At every stage, we strengthen students’ capacity to engage deeply with the world and cultivate the resilience needed to face life’s challenges with confidence, integrity, and purpose.

Early Childhood

(Ages 3½–6)

In our Kindergarten, play is purposeful and full of meaning. Through imagination, rhythm, and routine, young children learn by imitating the world around them in a nurturing, hands-on environment.

Uniquely Waldorf

The Class Teacher Model and Main Lesson Block: A Foundation for Deep, Immersive Learning

What makes our education truly unique is the Class Teacher model and the Main Lesson Block schedule. From Grades 1–8, each Class Teacher remains with their students, guiding them through core subjects while fostering strong relationships and a deep, personal understanding of each child’s strengths and challenges. This continuity enables teachers to provide consistent, individualized support as students grow and develop. Subject specialists join as needed to enrich learning, and close collaboration between parents and teachers further supports each student’s progress. Each school day begins with the Main Lesson, a focused block dedicated to a specific subject. This immersive approach engages all learning styles through storytelling, vocabulary development, writing exercises, and the creative arts.

Comprehensive Academic Evaluations: Supporting Individual Growth and Lifelong Learning

Students receive comprehensive written reports twice a year, which are shared with parents. Formal parent/teacher conferences take place mid-year. In elementary school, students are not graded or required to take standardized tests, except for skill quizzes in grades 6 through 8. Formal grading begins in high school.

It’s an education that prepares students not just for tests, but for life.

Waldorf education develops creativity, critical thinking, and analytical processing. A connection with nature and a sense of community are also nurtured. It is a well-rounded educational experience.”         Austin Waldorf School Parent
