Position Purpose: 

The Accompanist is responsible for providing musical accompaniment for eurythmy classes, dance classes, school performances, music classes, and other events within the Waldorf school community. The role involves supporting students and faculty in rehearsals and performances by playing piano, keyboard, or other instruments as required. The Accompanist plays a key role in fostering an artistic and musical environment that complements the Waldorf education philosophy, which emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and the integration of music into the academic curriculum.

The Accompanist's responsibilities:

• Accompany eurythmy classes, dance classes, instrumental ensembles, and performances as needed, providing live musical support during rehearsals and events.

• Work closely with the Music Director, and Eurythmy teacher, and Dance teacher to support the curriculum, especially in performance preparations for school festivals, seasonal celebrations, and concerts.

• Provide accompaniment for performances and other interdisciplinary arts projects that involve music.

• Provide accompaniment for school assemblies, parent meetings, and other events where live music is required.

• Be available for rehearsals and performances, ensuring that students have consistent support throughout the process.

• Collaborate with individual students or small groups, particularly for student performances, recitals, and auditions.

• Arrange or adapt music when necessary, ensuring that the musical pieces are suitable for the instruments and voices involved, as well as the unique pedagogical approach of Waldorf education.

• Assist with tuning and maintenance of school instruments when required, ensuring the readiness of instruments for use in rehearsals and performances.

• Foster a positive, supportive, and cooperative environment for students and teachers alike, contributing to the harmonious atmosphere of the school’s music and arts programs.

• Assist with school events and fundraising activities.

Professional Requirements:

• Proficiency in playing piano, ukulele, keyboard, or other relevant instruments (experience with both classical and contemporary styles is beneficial).

• Experience in accompanying music ensembles, choirs, or instrumental groups, particularly in an educational or performance setting.

• Ability to read and interpret music fluently, with the ability to adapt musical arrangements to suit the needs of the performers.

Position: Advancement/Development Manager

Position Purpose

Under the direction of the Head of School, the Development Manager will prepare and present regular reports on progress towards fundraising goals. Plan and execute special events. Manage grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities. Generate donor communications, newsletters, and annual reports. Oversee enrollment and marketing functions and align communications, enrollment, and development efforts into a unified articulation of the Austin Waldorf School (AWS) value proposition to all stakeholders. 

The Development Manager responsibilities include:

• Implement and execute an annual fundraising plan to meet fundraising goals.

• Develop and implement best practices, including the identification and implementation of cost-effective data management systems.

• Manage a portfolio of donors, including establishing and maintaining detailed records.

• Prepare and present regular reports on progress toward fundraising goals.

• Plan and execute special events.

• Manage grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities.

• Assist in the creation of print, digital, and social media content directly related to development.

Essential Functions

• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of fund development (major/planned giving), with the ability to organize, create, and implement development efforts through marketing.

• Identify, cultivate, and solicit current and potential donors and sponsors for the school auction, annual fund, capital campaign, and endowment targeting gifts of $10,000 and above. This includes initiating appointment requests through phone calls and contact letters, scheduling appointments and making the ask.

• Work with the Parent Association on events like Winter Fair and Pumpkin Path.

• Identify, cultivate, and secure legacy-giving donors through wills, life insurance, trusts, and retirement plan designations for school Endowment. Where possible, seek verbal or written documentation of the dollar value of legacy gift commitments. 

• Prepare individual communication, cultivation, and solicitation plans for each major gift donor/prospect to include gratitude phone calls, personal notes, invitations to special events, and timing and approach of the next ask. 

• Oversee database maintenance and timely acknowledgment of gifts or donations through thank you letters and yearly contribution reports. 

• Interacts with various stakeholders to foster a positive relationship between the school and community including the Parent Association, community organizations, and leaders.

• Directs the school’s Development Plan by establishing short (annual) and long (3-5 year) range goals and objectives for the development office based on the school’s long-range plan. 

• The incumbent facilitates the development and publication of an articulated, written case statement about the school which tells the story of AWS and includes the school’s philosophy, values, mission, and public and community contributions. 

• Ensure the development and implementation of a comprehensive public relations and communications plan for the school. Build relationships with school leadership, teachers, and staff; parents of current, former, and future students; local civic and business leaders and area residents. 

• Establish an Endowment for Financial Aid and Teacher Education.

• Responsible for ensuring enrollment metrics are met with the advancement team. 

• Lead the Capital Campaign efforts.

• Lead the Development Committee meetings, preparing a clear agenda and assigning tasks to members.

Austin Waldorf School is seeking experienced substitute teachers at every level, Pre-K through Grade 12, to join our master substitute list for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidates will have demonstrated success working in the classroom with class sizes ranging from 14-32 students. Substitute teachers work on a flexible schedule and may be called to fill in on the morning of or the evening prior to the school day for which their services are needed.

Position: Chief Strategic Finance and Operations Officer (CSFOO)

Position Purpose

The Chief Strategic Finance and Operations Officer is a creative, analytical, and strategic leader responsible for the school's financial health and operational excellence. As a key advisor and thought partner to the Head of School, the CSFOO ensures long-term financial stability, advances organizational effectiveness, and supports the school's educational mission through sound fiscal management and operational leadership.

The CSFOO oversees a $9M+ annual budget and provides executive oversight for finance, facilities, operations, compliance, risk management, procurement, information technology, safety, wellness, transportation, and student information systems. The role serves as a data-driven strategic resource for the Head of School and the Board of Trustees, developing metrics, dashboards, and scenario plans that inform long-term planning and sustainability.

Key Objectives

The CSFOO is responsible for establishing and maintaining financial policies and practices aligned with GAAP and industry standards, and for providing leadership across financial and operational domains, including budgeting, audit, enrollment, financial aid, facilities, IT, and risk management.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership 

• Serve as a strategic partner and sounding board to the Head of School.
• Provide financial models, dashboards, and scenario analyses to support Board-level strategic planning.
• Partner with leadership to identify critical organizational needs and develop long-range financial strategies.

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee the creation, accuracy, and maintenance of all financial records.
• Prepare periodic financial statements for the Head of School and Board of Trustees.

• Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations.

Tuition, Enrollment & Financial Aid

• Oversee annual enrollment contracts and tuition management for 400+ students.

• Ensure all financial aid documentation is complete; collaborate with the Head of School to determine awards, manage the financial aid budget, and process appeals.
• Support administration of tuition remission for qualifying faculty.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Administer and maintain all forms of school insurance, including annual policy review.
• Ensure internal controls safeguard school assets and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Oversee campus safety, security, and emergency response practices.

Operations & Facilities

• Provide executive oversight for facilities, maintenance, safety, and compliance.

Under the direction of the Head of School, the Human Resource Manager designs and implements Human Resource programs in the areas of staffing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, coaching, change management, HR policy, and legal compliance. The Human Resource Manager is responsible for planning, leading, and coordinating the HR department’s activities and policies. 

The Human Resource Manager's responsibilities include:

• Compliance: Ensuring the organization complies with employment laws and regulations

Position: Learning Support Coordinator

Position Purpose: 

The Learning Support Coordinator leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of support services for students with learning differences from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, in alignment with the Waldorf educational philosophy. This role involves overseeing the identification and assessment of students with learning differences, providing leadership in developing individualized support plans, and ensuring that students have access to appropriate resources. The coordinator works collaboratively with teachers, parents, and outside specialists to foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment that encourages the academic and personal growth of all students.

The Learning Support Coordinator's Responsibilities:

• Coordinate student support services for students with learning differences, ensuring that they receive appropriate interventions in a timely and effective manner.

• Supervise the Student Support team to ensure that all support programs are properly executed.

• Lead the development and implementation of individualized learning plans for students requiring additional academic assistance, ensuring that plans are aligned with Waldorf education principles.

• Conduct and oversee assessments for students with learning differences, ensuring appropriate methods and tools (e.g. non-standardized assessments, Waldorf-compatible tools) are used to identify learning challenges early.

• Support early identification and intervention, including providing guidance to teachers on assessment techniques and early intervention strategies for students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade.

• Provide professional development for faculty and staff on supporting students with learning differences, including strategies for classroom accommodations, differentiation, and implementing multi-sensory teaching techniques.

• Ensure a coordinated approach between teachers, parents, and outside specialists to support the academic and emotional development of students with learning differences.

• Manage communication with parents, ensuring they are informed of their child's progress, and support them in understanding and implementing strategies to help at home.

• Participate in Care Group meetings and work with teachers to identify students in need of additional support, ensuring that interventions are being implemented as necessary.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning support interventions, making recommendations for adjustments and improvements.

• Collaborate with outside specialists (e.g. educational diagnosticians, therapists) to bring additional support and resources to the school as needed.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education and student support services, including maintaining appropriate records and documentation.

• Facilitate the transition of students with learning differences into High School, ensuring that they have the support they need to succeed in their next educational setting.

• Uphold school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment for all students.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records, assessments, and other sensitive information, in accordance with professional ethics and legal standards.

• Ensure that all program charges are clearly communicated to families and that parental consent is obtained prior to enrolling children in the program.

Professional Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with children with learning differences in an educational setting, including leadership or coordination experience.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, special education, child development, psychology, or a related field.

• Experience in Waldorf education and a deep understanding of its principles, developmental stages, and individualized learning approaches.

• Training in assessing and supporting learning differences, including dyslexia, ADHD, and other developmental delays or challenges.

• Experience with various intervention programs (e.g. HANDLE, Bal-A-Vis-X, Extra Lesson, Curative Eurythmy) and understanding their application within the Waldorf approach.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and outside professionals.

The Austin Waldorf School (TAPPS 2A) is seeking a varsity volleyball head coach for the 2026-2027 school year. Having high school volleyball coaching experience at any level (1A-6A) is preferred but not required. Applicants need to be able to work in a collaborative environment and have strong communication skills with players, parents, administrators, and other coaches. This is a part-time stipend position.

The Varsity High School Volleyball Head Coach is required to:

• Develop and lead practices appropriate for various skill levels

• Attend all practices and games (August-November)

• Attend AWS athletics staff meetings as needed

• Communicate regularly and professionally with student-athletes, parents, administrators, and other coaches

• Meet with players and parents as needed

• Attend the TAPPS All-District Meeting at end of season

• Attend and speak at the end-of-season banquet

• Lead off-season workouts (March-May)

Under the direction of the Head of School, the High School Director provides leadership for the instructional program, as well as coordinating the implementation, review, and revision of the curriculum. The Director manages the operation and all functions of the grade 9 -12 secondary school. The Director supervises school staff regarding instruction, curriculum, student programs and issues, and building operations. The Director schedules and attends meetings, as appropriate, and leads the school improvement process.  

The High School Director’s responsibilities include:

• Leadership: The Director is a trusted leader who guides the school's day-to-day operations and inspires students, teachers, and staff. 

• Curriculum: The Director works with the College of Teachers and Head of School to develop, implement, and maintain Waldorf curriculum standards, and oversees the effectiveness of curriculum management. 

• Teaching and learning: The Director promotes the improvement of teaching and learning, and helps determine the direction of classroom instruction. 

• Student support: The Director counsels and disciplines students, and meets with parents and teachers to discuss students' progress and behavior. 

• Staff management: The Director manages school activities and staff, including teachers and support personnel. They also organize professional development programs and workshops for staff. 

• School operations: The Director manages the school's budget, orders school supplies, and schedules maintenance. They also establish and coordinate security procedures for students, staff, and visitors. 

• Administrative tasks: The Director handles daily administrative tasks in their office.

Essential Functions:

• Supervises and evaluates certified secondary staff, ensuring that the proper elements of Waldorf instruction are implemented; coordinates the teacher supervision and evaluation processes.

• Evaluates all direct reports in the performance of their duties. 

• Manages staff and program improvement processes, as well as teacher Professional Development Plans. 

• Screens, interviews, and recommends the selection of staff; including teachers and support staff. 

• Assures the existence of a faculty participating decision-making process following dynamic governance.

• Manages all staff orientation processes. 

• Leads new teacher training.

• Manages and edits the high school handbook. 

• Manages all building security and staff procedures, including evacuation and emergency plans.

• Takes steps to ensure excellent public relations, including the parent newsletter, building and teacher websites, the school paper, and the yearbook.

• Manages all advisory groups, including teacher, staff, parent, and student groups.

• Plans and implements recognition events such as academic award banquets, recognition assemblies, and graduation ceremonies.

• Co-supervises and manages the building technology plan. 

• Manages, analyzes, and interprets data, including assessment results, for school improvement purposes. 

• Leads professional development for faculty and staff in the high school.

• Creates, reviews, and assesses the teachers’ and students’ daily and weekly schedules.

• Reviews and ensures the accuracy of student report cards, progress report cards, and transcripts, addressing any discrepancies or issues that arise.

• Manages and signs off on reports and transcripts.

• Maintains and updates the correct list of classes and class divisions each year, ensuring alignment with the school's curriculum, staffing needs, and student enrollment.

• Ensure the Student Information System (SIS) is configured correctly and reflects the high school's policies, procedures, and academic structures with the help of a Registrar/Executive Assistant.

• Plans and implements recruitment events from the Enrollment/Admissions Office.

• Works collaboratively with the College of Teachers on school curriculum.

• Works with the HR Office on the onboarding and offboarding of teachers.

• Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Professional Requirements

• Thorough understanding of applicable local, state, and federal educational laws, regulations, policies, and requirements.

• Knowledge of curriculum and curriculum trends as well as AWSNA and ISAS requirements.  

• Knowledge of adolescent and child development, learning styles, and motivation.  

• Understanding of a budget and financial operations, including how to build a budget and assess building and staffing needs.  

• Understanding of school laws, rules, and regulations, including special education and due process, graduation standards, and requirements.  

• Communicator: Strong interpersonal communication skills & ability to communicate well in a variety of venues and mediums.

• Self-Starter: Ability to take initiative, work independently, and hold oneself accountable.

• Organized and Deadline-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple projects with converging deadlines while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

Education and Experience

• Master’s Degree in Education or related field.

• Bachelor’s in Education or related educational field.

• Waldorf Training and/or experience preferred.

Experience in a Senior Leadership position for at least three years.

The Austin Waldorf School (TAPPS) is seeking a varsity soccer head coach for the 2026-2027 school year. We play Fall Soccer in TAPPS so the season is August-early November. Having high school soccer coaching experience at any level (1A-6A) is preferred but not required. Applicants need to be able to work in a collaborative environment and have strong communication skills with players, parents, administrators, and other coaches. This is a part-time stipend position.

The Varsity Soccer Head Coach is required to:

• Develop and lead practices appropriate for various skill levels.

• Attend all practices and games (August-early November)

• Attend AWS athletics staff meetings as needed

• Communicate regularly and professionally with student-athletes, parents, administrators, and other coaches.

• Meet with players and parents as needed

• Attend the TAPPS All-District Meeting at end of season

• Attend and speak at the end-of-season banquet

• Lead off-season workouts (March-May)

• Lead the AWS soccer summer camp & summer workouts (June-July)
