The Austin Waldorf School Summer Camp Programs is pleased to add Blue Lapis Light Aerial Dance Movement Workshop to the summer's offerings. Conducted by choreographers/dancers Sally Jacques, Nicole Whiteside, Alicia Marie Carlin, and other core members of Blue Lapis Light, this series of aerial dance classes will introduce students to the basic techniques of climbing aerial fabric, moving in harnesses/bungees, and dancing in nets and in hoops.
Experiencing the joy and possibilities of aerial dance movement and excited by the challenges, students learn to use equipment and gain insight into the imperative for safety, the importance of taking instruction, the satisfaction of disciplined training and the benefits of proper development of strength and agility. Instilling confidence and self-esteem through movement, students are excited by the concept, stimulated by the broad flight through space, and once enamored, are open to new paths of listening and learning. At the end of each session, the students hold an aerial dance performance for their peers and community.Questions: Contact Jan Dosky at (512) 288-5942 ext. 252 or by email:
